A Memorial Plaque in Honor of the First Rector of the Zhambyl Hydromelioration Construction Institute R.Zh. Zholaev

On June 26, 2024, a reunion of the 1971 graduates of the Zhambyl Hydromelioration Construction Institute took place at Dulatty University.

The purpose of the meeting was to install a memorial plaque in honor of Rakhmet Zholaev, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, a distinguished hydrotechnician of the Kazakh SSR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor.

The event was attended by the faculty members of the Zhambyl Hydromelioration Construction Institute, the rector's advisor M.N. Sennikov, the professor of the “Water Resources” department, Doctor of Technical Sciences G.E. Omarova, the director of the "Water Management and Ecological Coordination" Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor B.A. Alimbayev, Professor of the "Construction and Materials Production" department A.S. Seitkaziev, Professor of the "Melioration and Agronomy" department L.S. Kharchuk, Associate Professor of the "Oil, Gas, and Mining" department, Candidate of Sciences G.M. Zarubaev, and other distinguished professionals.

The meeting was moderated by Nurtaza Kudaibergenov, a graduate of 1971 and a veteran of Kazakhstan’s water management. He highlighted the importance of the event and explained that the memorial plaque would help future generations of students understand the significant contribution that Rakhmet Zholaev made to education and science.

The memorial plaque was installed on the walls of the M. Kh. Dulaty Taraz Regional University, where Rakhmet Zholaev spent a significant part of his teaching career.

The meeting was also attended by graduates of the 1971 class, including A.M. Mamajanov, Director of the "KazYujGiprovodKhozStroyGranite" company, N.N. Balghabaev, Director General of the "Kazakhstan Research Institute of Water Resources", Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, A.K. Keshimov, Senior Specialist at the Executive Directorate of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, and veterans of the water management sector, such as A. Votyashev, A.Kh. Bayaliev, and A. Otebaev. They discussed the role of water specialists in the country's economy and ecology.

At the end of the meeting, the invited guests and alumni shared interesting stories from their student years. The participants expressed their gratitude to the university and its faculty and wished the institution continued success and achievements in the future.
