To provide sound, affordable, and modern education as a condition to train a competitive multicultural individual skilled and able to demonstrate practical knowledge of casual and everyday speech and the language of his/her specialty for active use of a foreign language both in everyday life and in professional communication; capable of continuous self-education and lifelong professional development through knowledge of foreign languages

In the 2024-2025 academic year 1 PhD, 1 candidate of science, 17 senior teachers (including 14 masters), 4 teachers work at the department of “Practical Foreign Languages”. Teachers of the department of “Practical Foreign Languages” teach the disciplines “Foreign Language - 1,2” at the Pre-intermediate level; “Professionally oriented foreign language” for students studying in non-linguistic specialties; and “Foreign language” (professional) for undergraduates.

Teachers of the department take an active part in international and national scientific and methodological conferences; publish articles in foreign journals. In particular, in 2024, PhD G.A.Turguntayeva published the scientific article on the topic “Linguacultural and cognitive peculiarities of linguistic universals” in the “Journal of psycholinguistic research”, included in the Scopus (Q1) and Web of Science databases. At the same time. senior lecturer M.A.Baiteliyeva published a scientific article on the topic “Investigation of the Effect of a Natural Extract From Oak Bark on the Properties of the Leather” in the journal “Fibres and Textiles in Eastern Europe” included in the Scopus (Q3) and Web of Science databases.

Teachers of the department publish articles in journals recommended by the Science and Higher Education Quality Assurance Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2023, senior lecturer Berdenova S.L. published the article “First-year students’ problems affecting adaptation to a public university in Kazakhstan” in the “Pedagogy. Psychology. Sociology" Series of the Bulletin of L.N.Gumilyev Eurasian National University. A.S. Kalymbet published the article “Use of computer role-playing games in teaching programming to students of multilingual groups using CLIL technology” in the “Path of Science” journal in 2022. As well in 2021, A.S. Kalymbet published the article “Implementation of an oral dialogue based on a Neural Network of Artificial Intelligence in the online platform in secondary school” in the “Pedagogy and Psychology” journal.

Teachers of the department participate in contests for grant funding for scientific projects.  In 2023, senior lecturer M. A. Gribenyuk in the ERASMUS+ project for 2023 “Strengthening the potential for the production of leather goods and leather products in universities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan” (“REILEAP”) and teacher M. F. Ibragimov participated in the international project “Research on biodiversity and energy security to resolve conflicts between sustainable development goals.”

Teachers of the department regularly organize scientific and methodological seminars. In 2024, a seminar on the topic “Modern methods of teaching a foreign language in inclusive education” was held within the framework of which practical methods of inclusive teaching were demonstrated to teachers; and the head of the inclusive education department, Usenova Sandugash Meirambekovna, made a report on methods of teaching students with special needs.

In 2025, senior teachers of the department Altynbekova D. A., Karimova A. K., Nauryzbaeva A. M., M. B. Saduakhasova held a scientific and methodological seminar for teachers of the department on the topic “MOOC - a comprehensive program for distance learning,” during which teachers got acquainted with the effectiveness of the MOOC platform.

Teachers of the department of “Practical Foreign Languages” take an active part in the competition “Best Multimedia Product of the University”, organized by Taraz University named after M.Kh.Dulaty. In 2023, at the competition “Best Multimedia Product of the University 2023”, senior teachers A.M.Nauryzbaeva, D.A.Altynbekova, A.Sh.Karimova performed in the “Best MOC” category and took second place. In 2022, at the competition “Best Multimedia Product of the University 2022” in the category “Best Innovative Addition”, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences M.V.Novozhilova took 3rd place. In 2021, senior teachers A.M.Nauryzbaeva and A.I.Mailybayeva took part in the competition “Best multimedia product of the university 2021” in the nomination “Best open lesson”, taking second place.

Teachers of the department of “Practical Foreign Languages” take an active part in sports competitions, e.g., A.S. Kalymbet and A.B. Zaurbek took part in the sports relay among university staff and teachers, dedicated to the Trade Union Day of Kazakhstan, and took the 1st place.

In 2024, the executives of student scientific circle “Polyglot” of Taraz University named after M. Kh. Dulaty organized a regional conference on the topic “The importance of the English language in improving the functional literacy of students.”  Schoolchildren and college students of Taraz city, Zhambyl region attended the conference. The best speakers were awarded diplomas of I, II, III degrees, special nominations and letters of gratitude.

Teachers from the department of “Practical Foreign Languages” supervise students’ research works. Based on the results of the 2nd stage of the XXVІ student scientific and practical conference “Student Science-Research World”, held at Taraz University named after M. Kh. Dulaty in 2024, Galymzhankyzy Inzhu, a 1st year student of the educational program 6B06114 - “Informatics and Communication Technologies”, under the guidance of senior teacher M. A. Bayteliyeva, was awarded a 2nd degree diploma.
