INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR HELD AT DULATY UNIVERSITY

An international scientific seminar titled “Innovative Solutions in Water Resource Management between Kazakhstan and the USA: Academic, Research, and Commercial Approaches” was held at Dulaty University.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the BR24992867 scientific and technical program, funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The program is also being implemented with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan, coordinated by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Steppe Global Education Foundation.

The event took place as part of efforts to strengthen sustainable partnerships between universities of Kazakhstan and the United States, aiming to exchange knowledge and experience in the fields of education, science, and innovation. The two sides discussed prospects for deepening academic collaboration, implementing joint research projects, and expanding student and faculty mobility opportunities.

The goal of the program is to promote sustainable development principles in Kazakhstan by developing resource-efficient technologies in the water sector and processing industries, as well as to establish an innovative engineering center in this area.

The seminar was opened by Sholpan Yessimova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Internationalization, who emphasized the importance of international scientific cooperation in water-related fields. She highlighted the global relevance of effective and efficient water resource management and underlined the cross-border nature of the initiative.

During the seminar, distinguished scholars from abroad and Kazakhstan presented insightful talks:
Professor Daniel Snow, Director of the Water Sciences Laboratory at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL), spoke about the “Know Your Well” program and how it engages youth in water quality research.
Associate Professor Saleh Taghvaeian, also from UNL, shared the university’s role in research, education, and outreach related to water resource management in the state of Nebraska.
Dr. Janay Sagin, PhD from Kazakh-British Technical University, presented ongoing international cooperation initiatives between vocational colleges in the USA, Canada, Slovakia, Germany, and Kazakhstan.
Anna Palto, Head of the Irrigation Division at Eurasia Group Kazakhstan LLP, showcased specific irrigation projects being implemented across Kazakhstan.
Igor Danko, Deputy Head of the Accelerator Department at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, discussed the potential use of radiation technologies based on electron accelerators for efficient water utilization.

At the end of the seminar, participants exchanged ideas and opinions in an open discussion format, addressing key issues in water management. The guests expressed their appreciation to the university administration and shared their warm impressions of the visit.
