  • What is the Mevlana Exchange Programme?

The Mevlana Exchange Programme is a programme which aims to facilitate the exchange of students and academic staff members between Turkish higher education institutions and the higher education institutions of other countries. The introduction of this programme was made possible with the publication of the regulation (No. 28034) on August 23rd 2011.

  • Who was Mevlana?

The original name of Mevlana, from whom the inspiration for the name of the programme is taken, comes from MuhammedCelaleddin.  Mevlana was born in 1207 in the Belh of Horasan district that is now on the border with Afghanistan. The name "Mevlana" was used by Sultan Veled, Şems-i Tebrizi and his lovers, and has become identified with him as a virtually universal symbol. He is also known as Rumi by the western world. Mevlana lived in the 13th century, but as a Sufi the influence of his work is ageless. His legacy is notable for the lack of any discrimination between people, as indicated in his verse "Come, come whoever you are".

  • Who can benefit from the Mevlana Exchange Programme?

Any student may benefit from Mevlana Exchange Programme if they are registered on a formal education programme at a higher education institution, on condition that the higher education institution concerned has signed a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol. The Programme is also open to all academic staff members who are employed by higher education institution, on condition that the higher education institution concerned has signed a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol.
