To provide sound, affordable, and modern education as a condition to train a competitive multicultural individual skilled and able to demonstrate practical knowledge of casual and everyday speech and the language of his/her specialty for active use of a foreign language both in everyday life and in professional communication; capable of continuous self-education and lifelong professional development through knowledge of foreign languages.
In 2025–2026 academic year, the “Practical Foreign Languages” department employs 1 PhD, 1 candidate of sciences, 18 senior lecturers, and 5 lecturers, of them 20 masters. The lecturers of the “Practical Foreign Languages” department teach “Foreign language - 1,2” disciplines at Pre-intermediate level for students of non-linguistic specialties, and “Foreign language (professional)” for master degree students.

In 2025, the article by Senior Lecturer of the Department, Ushakbayeva K.R., entitled “Examination of the Scientific and Methodological Foundations of the Formation of Network Communication Culture and Digital Etiquette of Faculty Members at the University” was published in the journal International Journal of Evaluation and Research in Education (IJERE).
Scientific and Methodological Seminars
In 2025, Senior Lecturers Altynbekova D.A., Karimova A.K., Nauryzbaeva A.M., and Saduakhassova M.B. conducted a scientific and methodological seminar for the department’s faculty on the topic “MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) as a Comprehensive Program for Distance Learning.”
The seminar addressed the effectiveness of the MOOC platform, methods of its application, the development of high-quality video lessons, and the preparation of online learning materials.
Student Research Activities
“Polyglot” Student Club
In 2025, on the initiative of the student scientific and country studies club “Polyglot” of the Department of Practical Foreign Languages, a conference titled “Digital Literacy and Artificial Intelligence: Interactive Platforms and Resources in Foreign Language Learning” was held. The conference was attended by school pupils and college students from Taraz city and the Zhambyl region. The best speakers were awarded diplomas and letters of appreciation.

In 2025, based on the results of the XXVII Student Scientific-Practical Conference “Student Science – The World of Research” held at M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz University, first-year student of the educational program 6B05111 “Medical and Biological Studies,” Zhumabek Anel, supervised by Senior Lecturer Nauryzbaeva A.M., was awarded a third-degree diploma.
In 2026, based on the results of the XXVIII Student Scientific-Practical Conference “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies: A Student Perspective,” first-year student of the educational program 6B01513 “Teacher Training in Mathematics (IP),” Khaymuldina Madina, supervised by Senior Lecturer Kazbekova Sh.I., was awarded a third-degree diploma. Also, at the same conference, first-year student of the educational program 6B01533 “Teacher Training in Biology (IP),” Nolfina Karina, supervised by Senior Lecturer Karimova A.Sh., was awarded a first-degree diploma. First-year student of the educational program 6B01515 “Physics and Computer Science,” Bulatov Ernar, supervised by Lecturer Mazova A.A., received a letter of appreciation from the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Humanities, Isabekova G.B.

Scientific and Methodological Work
In 2024, a scientific and methodological seminar on the topic “Modern Methods of Foreign Language Teaching in Inclusive Education” was conducted at the department. During the seminar, a practical training session on inclusive teaching methods was organized for faculty members, and the specifics of working with students with special educational needs were discussed.
Sports Achievements
Young specialist of the department, Zaurbek A.B., achieved first place in a sports relay competition among university staff and faculty members, dedicated to the Trade Union Day of Kazakhstan.

Research Projects
In 2023, Senior Lecturer Gribenyuk M.A. participated in the international ERASMUS+ project “Strengthening the Capacity of Leather and Leather Goods Production in Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan” (REILEAP). In addition, Lecturer Ibragimov M.F. participated in the international research project “Biodiversity and Energy Justice Research for Resolving Conflicts between Sustainable Development Goals.”
Competitions and Awards
Faculty members of the Department of Practical Foreign Languages participated in the competition “Best Multimedia Product of the University – 2023,” organized by M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz University. In the nomination “Best MOOC,” Senior Lecturers Nauryzbaeva A.M., Altynbekova D.A., and Karimova A.Sh. took second place.
