The main goal of the department is to provide high-quality education in history and geography by developing students’ theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research culture. The department also aims to form students’ spatial and historical thinking, and to train pedagogical specialists for the Republic and the local region who respect national and universal values and can work effectively within the education system. The department seeks to introduce modern teaching technologies into the educational process, develop academic mobility, and ensure the integration of science and education.
«History and Geography in Education»
The Department of History and Geography in Education is a structural unit that trains teachers of history and geography within the field of pedagogical education. The foundation of the department was laid in 1967 with the opening of the Zhambyl Pedagogical Institute. Today, it is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Taraz University named after M.Kh. Dulaty.
The department’s academic staff consists of 18 instructors, including 4 PhD holders and 3 Candidates of Sciences. Most faculty members are actively engaged in research activities. Evidence of this includes their participation in grant-funded projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regular publications in high-ranking journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, as well as in journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education, and participation in international scientific conferences and seminars.

Students and master’s students enrolled in the educational programs of the Department of History and Geography in Education study in academic buildings No. 2.5 and 5.3. These facilities include 4 computer classrooms, 1 resource center, a library subscription service, and a reading hall with access to information channels and the local internet network. The department has dedicated specialized classrooms and offices, including the office named after the Great Patriotic War veteran, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Sh. A. Adilov (2.5-314); the office named after the corresponding member of the Humanitarian Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Zh. K. Bodanov (2.5-316); the educational and methodological classroom named after Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor R. Bailybekov (2.5-327); the lecture hall named after Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor R. Myltikbayev (2.5-318); and the lecture hall named after the People’s Hero of the Republic of Kazakhstan, G. Baitasov (2.5-425). Several classrooms are equipped with computer technology and multimedia tools (computers, printers, interactive boards).
